I am really impressed with the audio quality of these headphones. Excapt for the fact that they are on your head you forget that you are listening to headphones , they are that good. I was torn between over the ear or on the ear and I'm glad I chose on the ear and got these. If I ever needed in the ear head phones I will definetly give the True Blood in ear model a try from V-Moda.

I purchased the V-moda V-80 after reading a number of online reviews, such as those on head-fi and InnerFidelity. I have been listening to these headphones for 2 months, and made the following observations:1) The headphone feels expensive, and is sturdy. I carry it in the case while travelling though. 2) If there is bass in the song, you will hear it. The bass doesn't overwhelm higher frequencies, nor does it restrain itself unnecessarily. Some people call this "superbly tight bass". I agree. This alone is worth 3/4th of the headphone's cost, if you ask me. My friend has a Sennheiser HD202, which costs about $30. He listened to "Sapnon se bhare naina" by Rohini Ravada and Shankar Tucker. He was blown away, and instantly noted that his Sennheiser's are noticeably inferior. A luxury, once sampled, becomes a necessity... 3) While bass is well-defined and occupies its rightful place in any musical rendering, this is not a boomy headphone. If you are a bass freak, you should look elsewhere. Like Dr. Dre's Beats Audio perhaps. 4) The cords are thoughtfully made, the 3.5mm connector is angled, and I don't know why others don't make it this way. Shows V-Moda's attention to detail. Makes it easier to remove and connect the phone, especially if space is cramped. However, the mic is not very good for making calls outdoors in presence of strong winds and the like. However, the length of the cord is ideal. 5) Can be driven to loud volumes without aid of a headphone amp (I don't have one). Can be used with an iPod without a portable headphone amp. 6) Noise isolation is good, but not good enough for use in an airplane. At the risk of sounding pedantic and repetitive, let me reiterate that there is no circuitry which performs noise suppression. Its just good construction. 7) The ear pads tend to press on the ear, and it becomes uncomfortable after an hour or so. However, the fit is firm. The ear pads are replaceable. 8) For best results, use 320 kbps MP3's or lossless audio files. Otherwise you are missing out on a lot. 9) Logos can be custom-engraved on the headphone for a fee, but I didn't opt for this. Songs I heard:"Ironman" - Black Sabbath "Come as you are" - Nirvana "Sapnon se bhare naina" - Rohini Ravada, Shankar Tucker "Ranjha Ranjha " - Rekha Bharadwaj, Javed Ali, Anuradha Sriram (Raavana OST) "Nightcall" - KavinskyI mostly listen to Hindi music, electronica and classic rock, and this headphone handles these very well. I heard that these are acoustically identically to the M-80's, and I don't know why it is noticeably costlier.

These are some absolutely amazing headphones, especially when you consider that they're priced well under $300. Excellent construction, and the sound is perfect for my taste. After getting them in, I've listened to all sorts of music - my tastes run from House / Electro to classical (tested with Dvorak's Symphony #9 in E Minor - lots of subtlety) to hip-hop, to Europop, and even some old Rush albums (and - ultimate test- the newly released BluRay audio version of Moving Pictures). The response curve is nice and flat (at least for headphones), and the details of the music flow beautifully. I couldn't be happier. Other details like the detachable Kevlar-reinforced iPhone-compatible cord with remote are just icing on the cake. Normally I wouldn't really care much about what the headphones look like, but these are as close as you can get to works of art on your ears. It's not a decision maker / breaker, but to me it says a lot about a company that apparently cares about every possible detail in their products (even a carrying case that easily clips onto a carry-on bag - seriously, is there *nothing* these guys don't think about?!??).
